In just 175 days, Knives Out will be back on our screens with Daniel Craig reprising his role as the iconic detective Benoit Blanc, joined by an impressive new cast. Fresh updates about the film have been surfacing gradually, and we now finally know its official runtime!
Here are the runtimes for the earlier movies as a fast reminder:
The original Knives Out (2019) had a total runtime of 130 minutes, which translates to 2 hours and 10 minutes. Its sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022), was slightly longer, running for 139 minutes or 2 hours and 19 minutes.
We can now confirm that the third movie will be two hours and twenty-four minutes (144 minutes) long. That makes it about 4% longer than the sequel and approximately 11% longer than the original film!
Following the publication of a second first-look teaser through Netflix’s TUDUM, which confirmed the film’s release date and featured a few more frames from the upcoming film, the runtime information was revealed.
Rian Johnson debuted Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery at TUDUM 2025 with a sketch that started with host Sofia Carson. “What we try to do, what we attempt to do with them, is force the audience to guess,” she said. “It’s crucial to always try different approaches because, just when you think you have it figured out, something unexpected will happen. And that is the unique quality of these movies.
Josh Brolin interrupted, “That’s where you’re wrong,” and then there were a number of further twists involving other ensemble members. Kelly Spanney joined the audience, Mila Kunis joined, Keri Washington threw shirts from a T-shirt cannon, and Jeremy Renner added two more T-shirt cannons to increase the intensity. Glenn Close and Darren McCormack joined in via video link, and Daniel Craig then unveiled the new footage that revealed the release date!

The official age rating is another piece of information that we have yet to get. Will the third movie be given an R-rating as it is said to be a little darker than the previous two, which were rated PG-13 in the US and 12A in the UK? In the upcoming weeks, we’ll be watching closely.
On December 12, 2025, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will be available on Netflix worldwide.
